Firestik MKJ4R Jeep Wrangler Hood/Channel Mount With Coax

Firestik MKJ4R Jeep Wrangler Hood/Channel Mount With Coax

This mini-kit was specifically designed for the 1997 and newer Jeep Wranglers. The mounting bracket attaches to the front fender lip under the vehicles hood (either left or right side). Through testing we have found that having the antenna in front of the driver is a better option than the popular bumper type mounts. With the mount in front the driver has constant visual contact with the antenna. There is nothing worse than breaking your antenna in the middle of a trail run because you were unable to see that it was getting into trouble. You've heard it before ... out of sight ... out of mind. We also prefer to have the antenna on the drivers side of the vehicle as most obstructions will be found hanging over the outer edges of the roads or trails.

If the vehicle is being used over severe terrain, the mount should be moved forward (closer to the fender bolt) for added stability. The design of the Jeep fender leaves a large portion of the fender unsupported near the windshield.

All of the stainless steel mounting hardware (supplied)is hidden under the hood. The bracket is 2" (51mm) wide by 3" (76mm) long. The kit includes a stainless steel mount, 18 ft (5.5m) of professional grade Fire-Flex coaxial cable, and a FREE microphone hanger. Why buy the mini-kit instead of individual components’ The mini-kit uses our exclusive, rugged, weatherproof FireRing coax connection at the mount and costs less than individual component purchasing.

Note: The rearward part of the fender on newer Jeeps does not have the same support that was found in earlier models. On these vehicles we recommend that the bracket be mounted at least 8-inches (20cm) forward of the rear edge of the fender where it has sufficient support. If this is not followed, or if the rear part of the fender is not given additional support, the fender, dependent upon the antenna size, will flex from any whipping action of the antenna. • Review: This is THE way to put a CB antenna on a TJ. I put it on my 98. Install was quick and everything needed was included. You will need a soldering iron to process the screw on connector, but it\'s very basic soldering. Just be careful not to get anything too hot, lest you melt something. My mount was also slightly unlevel (antenna pointed a few degrees away from the jeep), but I was able to use the base of the antenna to gently straighten it. I went slightly past so that the line of the antenna matched up to the side angle of the windshield. Looks much better now. I was worried about wrinkling the fender, but it didn\'t move it a bit. Really nice mount, would recommend to anyone. Firestik products have always been top notch in my experience and they are the way to go.

  • Review: Very high quality and easy to install. However, on my '05 TJ, the mount is not level because the fender is not level. I had to shim it to get it level. I used a strip of duck tape about 6 or 8 layers thick and put it under the outside edge. Worked like a charm.

  • Review: This mount is quick easy and fast I did it all in under a half hour. It also make it real nice to watch and see if your antenna is in trouble. I strongly recommend this mount for anyone who is looking. The mounts are all solid and there is nothing flimsy about it when done correctly. If your worried about drilling into the body of the Jeep or that you'll be able to see the bolt holes you won't, and use a little undercoating spray on the underside of the part thats drilled to prevent rust or even a little rust-o-leum thats a close match to your Jeep just remember to spray from the under side of the part that is drilled and cover the top to prevent overspray. Once again an excellent mount and sturdy mount.
